Academic Editing

Hey there! Congratulations on taking the next step in your academic journey!

Just like any form of writing, ensuring that your content and language are in top-notch shape is crucial if you want your work to be engaging, understandable, and enjoyable to read.Whether English is your first, second, or even a foreign language, academic writing can be tricky.

That’s where I come in.

At Owlish Press, I understand the challenges students face with academic writing, and I’m here to assist you with your document.

The Sample Edit – Your Introduction to Quality Editing

Before diving into any editing process, I’ll start with a sample edit. This allows me to assess your writing and understand the type of editing your document needs – whether it’s a light, medium, or heavy copy-edit.

The sample edit also gives you a glimpse of my editing style and what you can expect throughout the process. The size of the sample edit will depend on the length of your manuscript.

The Academic Copy-Edit – Polishing Your Work to Perfection

Once your supervisor gives you the green light for editing, we’ll move on to the academic copy-editing stage. Here’s what you can expect from my comprehensive editing services:

  • A thorough cross-check of your references to ensure all in-text citations are correctly included in your reference list, and vice-versa.
  • Aligning your references and citations with your institution’s preferred reference style.
  • All changes will be made using the MS Word ‘track changes’ function, and I’ll provide additional feedback in the margins using balloons.
  • Correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation to ensure a polished final document.
  • Offering valuable feedback on flow, consistency, and overall readability of your work.
  • Upon request, you’ll receive a certificate of editing as proof of the meticulous process.

However, please note that an academic copy-edit does not involve checking for plagiarism, altering your document’s content, or evaluating the validity of your thesis.

Accepted Manuscripts – Let’s Get Started!

For a smooth editing process, I accept English manuscripts in both UK and US English, and they should be in Microsoft Word format.
